At last the sun has come out, and after one of the most captivating final rounds in modern golfing history, Henrik Stenson made the hardest of all sporting achievements look easy by winning The Open by 3 shots on 20 under par, amazing golf! Of course, it takes two to tango, and if Stenson's ball striking was commanding, his arch-rival on the day, Phil Mickelson had the short game touch of an artist. Stenson was different class! Tiger was great and changed the game, but that was the best last round EVER.
It was a performance that will be talked about for many, many years and great for European golf and the Ryder Cup.
Can we please ask that you ALL put your scores into the psi after play GOOD OR BAD, this week Jack had to search for over 10 missing scorecards and this takes some time when you have 132 cards to search through.

Fix: The Number 1 Iron Fault
Do this:
Hit down on your iron shots. Assuming you get into a good backswing position, with your weight on the instep of your back foot, your first move down should be a forward bump of the hips that transfers your weight toward the target. Then stay in your posture and turn through the shot, feel like you're turning down and through and keep some flex in your knees at impact, especially your back knee. That helps create a downward strike.
Not this:Don't try to help the ball into the air. If you do, you'll straighten your legs and pull up in an attempt to lift it off the ground. That pulls the club head up, too, and causes thin shots, even tops. Ironically, the more you try to get the ball up, the lower it flies. As you turn through the shot, maintain the same knee flex and spine tilt you set at address. You'll have a better chance of hitting the ball flush so the loft on the club can do its job.
If you are struggling with any aspect of your game, please don't hesitate to
get in touch.
At long last summer arrived, sun shining on ponds adorned with water lilies, but alas local course knowledge prevailed for Waterlooville in a 2.5 to 3.5 defeat. We enjoyed a cracking meal after the match though with strawberries and cream for pud!
