Enjoying the return of 'Bake Off?'
If so then join us and bake a cake for the MacMillan coffee morning on Friday, 30 September. Enjoy coffee and cake and make a donation to the MacMillan Charity, why not bring a friend along as well?
Your donations of a cake or cakes would be much appreciated.
There is definitely an early morning chill now we have moved into September, so you may be wanting an extra layer.
I have taken delivery of the Under Armour winter hats, mitts and zip fleece's, as modelled by Jack.
The soft, thermo-conductive coating on the inside of the fleece absorbs and retains your own body heat, without any extra weight or bulk. It also has a water repellent finish and built in wind barriers.
Arriving soon, Under Armour and Puma base layers for added warmth.
Although a little chilly in the morning I have just read that we are going to expreience an Indian Summer over the next few weeks! So now is the perfect time to come and snap up some of the summer bargains we have left:
- Ladies summer tops and Men's Nike Shirts have been reduced by 25%.
- £20 OFF selected Cleveland and Nike Wedges.
- Nike Vapor Pro Combo Irons - Were £699.99 Now £499.99 Saving £200
Junior Championship
8 juniors took part in the Junior championship last week and our overall winner was Junior Captain Bethany Goater with a gross 147. The nett winner was Tom Chalk with a nett 134.
Full results have been posted on the junior notice board, everyone picked up a prize.
My thanks go to Tracy and Jack for co co-ordinating the event and to our junior organiser Colin Field for giving up his day to start the juniors off for both rounds and staying for the prize giving along with Captain Adie Nicol.
Ex Saints player,
Matt Le Tissier paid a surprise visit to Hockley and kindly had his picture taken with the juniors before they set off for their afternoon round.
It was a pleasure to welcome the juniors back at the weekend to their group lessons and to listen to their holiday tales. I still have a few places left on Saturday and Sunday, so if you know any children aged 6 - 16 years that maybe interested in beginning golf please
get in touch.
The lessons incorporate all aspects of the game and are a great way to make new friends and develop personal skills.
The 1-hour lesson costs
£8 per child and will continue through the autumn and winter months.

Jean White
Ladies Captain
Not only did
John Walton get a birdie then later an eagle on 14!
Not only did one of our pairs get an 8:6 win during the round BUT Hockley Seniors turned round a 5:1 defeat at Brokenhurst Manor earlier in the season to a 5:1 victory at home last week!
This week the Seniors Open (excellent uptake on entries!) and our return friendly to High Post at Hockley should keep us busy!
There was a great win for Hockley in the Addison Bowl at Hayling Golf Club on Saturday. The Addison Bowl consists of 3 players with their combined nett scores and we were successful in winning by 3 shots over Hayling Golf Club.
The team of
Mark Gillard off of 4 shot a nett 71 & 78,
Jack Warren off of 1 shot nett 75 & 73 and finally
Mike Cranswick off of 6 shot nett 72 & 72.
Considering the weather on Saturday conditions were not good, but our team proved their consistency and ability in adverse conditions. I cannot recall Hockley ever winning this prestigious competition, and congratulations go to Mark, Jack and Mike who each must have played to the top of their games, well played.
