The Honours boards have now been put back in the clubhouse, please take a look next time you are in the bar, especially those lucky enough to have names on them!
The clubhouse was transformed last Friday evening for the Centenary dinner with over 140 members enjoying a splendid meal and after dinner speeches. We now look forward to the Celebrations in June and the Centenary Ball in September.
The Ladies have a new PSI machine in their changing room, this can be used to book Future competitions, enter your score, check your handicap and view the club website.
Matches Against Visiting Clubs + More
Come and join in the matches with our various visitors who are joining us during the year to help celebrate our Centenary. Our intention is to include as many members as possible in these events, so please sign up for the ones you like the look of and a team selection will be made as soon as we can. The sign-up sheet is on the main notice board now, so early application would be most helpful. Do not be put off by the numbers for each match - just put your names down - there should be good golf and fun in abundance.
Etretat
Thank you to Elizabeth Betts for the Etretat pictures:
The Delhi Cup
The Delhi Cup was played in perfect conditions on Saturday and produced a new winner, Darren Walkley from Hayling Golf Club with a score of 6 under par. The Runner Up was the familiar name of Ryan Henley from Stoneham on 5 under. Over the 2 rounds, 25 of the field had rounds of par or better, the best score coming from Ron Quarrington from Portsmouth, who shot a fantastic 5 under par 66 in the afternoon round.
But, perhaps the round of the tournament was played by our very own Nick Goater who shot a gross 1 under par 70 in the morning, which he then followed up with a nett 71 in the afternoon to take the overall nett prize. Many thanks to Howard Gleadow and the team of helpers in the clubhouse and out on the course.
The Men's Dreadnought Trophy
The Men's Dreadnought Trophy was won by one of my pupils and new member Tony Agius, with a nett 67. Tony only joined Hockley last year as an Academy member and was part of Jack's winning team in America. The Runner Up was James McIntyre with a nett 70.
The Ladies continue into the next round of The North Hants Trophy with a 2 - 1 win over Corhampton, played at Corhampton. Well done girls.
The winner of the Ladies Trimmer Cup was Angela Gradidge with 39 points, pipping Kate Colwill on the back 9. The Ladies Tank Cup winner was Wendy Evans with a nett 70, closely followed by Susie Dryden with a nett 71.
