Captain Cain sets a new record! We had four more matches this week before Damian jets off for his warm weather training in Australia, so we wanted to try and keep our run of good results going. Our first two games were against our Green keepers, Glen and his dad Peter or Papa Smurf as he is favourable known with Neil and Graham. For the amount of golf these guys get to play there was some very high-quality shots hit by all of them, but as the round went on we did just start to get away from Glen and his dad finally winning 5&4, however Neil and Graham were two up playing the 14th and really should have gone three up, but managed to lose that hole and gave us a glimmer of hope which we accepted gratefully and finally beat them one up. Our next two games were against Paul Mantell and Mike Simister with Michael Moore and Pete Robbins. On a soggy Saturday the pressure was on to keep our recent unbeaten run going and we did start well winning the first few holes. This soon ended abruptly as we went on a bogey run from three to six, however we did recover well and then played the remaining holes in one over par, which in foursomes with me as a partner is pretty good. We finally beat Michael and Pete 5&4 and beat Paul and Mike 4&3. We have now won our last 14 games, I think a record since I've been here at Hockley, so Damian enjoy your break and let’s hope our remaining games are played in as friendly atmosphere as all the others and our winning streak can continue. |
