Teams of Men, Ladies and juniors are required to play at Hockley, South Winchester and Royal Winchester the random draw will be made the week before the event.
The meal and presentation will take place at Royal Winchester this year. Play will commence at 11am at each of the courses in handicap order starting with the lowest, the meal will be available from 3.45pm and the prize giving at 5.30pm. Just in case any of you are on holiday and have not heard this piece of news from our quiet mannered competition secretary Howard Gleadow, who had a very rare points score on Saturday in the Urwick Bowl. Howard made a 2 for 5 points on the 9th, followed by a 4 for 3 on the 10th and finished with 35 points. This was definitely the talk of the clubhouse when he came in, I am so glad the lessons are now paying off Howard.
The winner of the competition was Kristian Jukes with 43 points and runner up on 38 points Danny Francis.
Gentlemen, I can please remind you all, after entering your scores into the psi in the locker room or shop, that your scorecards are placed in the box in the locker room (under the psi) and NOT in the office letter box. Thank you.
The Seniors Open will take place on 2nd September and entries have been well received, Gentlemen this is open to Hockley members so why not invite a friend to play with you. Please see below for an entry form.
Seniors Cup winner on Monday was David Baldwin with 38 points, Runner Up Godfrey Shearing with 36 points.
On a personal note, may I thank all of you who sent your best wishes and good luck messages to me via text, e mail, Twitter and Facebook at The Seniors Open at Royal Porthcawl.
It was a fantastic experience and to have Jack caddying for me and Tracy with me all the way made it extra special, and my best golfing memory. I look forward to the day I can caddy for Jack, but it will have to be a pencil bag!
My thanks also to the members who travelled down, especially Sue Gardiner and Louise Spruce who after having meetings and appointments cancelled decided at midday to drive down, arriving just in time to hear my tee announcement. It was very thoughtful of them and to receive their words of encouragement and for keeping me grounded.
The event is at Sunningdale next year so hopefully if I qualify again some more of you will be able to come along. I have included a few pictures taken whilst there, even showing my name in 'lights' for a few minutes with Colin Montgomerie.
