Captain/Pro Challenge Well our run has well and truly come to an end, our opponents this week were the Drayton brothers, Alan and Brian, with a returning legend Richard Broughton and his latest partner Glen Clements. Although Richard had played us earlier he stood in as a late replacement with Glenn and they both played well most of the way round and were three up after nine. All set up by a couple of cracking shots, Glen hit a fairway wood from way back on the second and Richard hit a driver into the middle of the green on eight. Our other game was a little closer as we were only one down to the Draytons, this was after Brian had hit a rescue wood to 8ft on 18 and Alan calmly holed it! We felt we had to make a bit of a move on both pairs on the back nine which we did, but in the wrong direction! We lost holes 10 and 11 to Richard and Glen, but did win 12 and halved the next three. Then another wonder shot from the legend that is Mr Broughton, who hit his driver to 10 feet to make a match winning par. We stayed a little bit closer to the Drayton’s however, we lost 14 to a birdie to go two down, then won 17 to be one down with two to go. After paring 18 and one the Draytons made a great up and down on the first to beat us by one hole. After the snow of last week stopping our games, we now have a busy few days coming up with six games in four days so let's see how our bounce back-ability is? |

February Promotion The winner of our February promotion was Jack Bateman, who can now enjoy playing with a dozen Pro V1 balls. Sorry no picture to bring you as we haven’t seen Jack for a while due to the bad weather and he has now injured his hand. |
Masters Draw We now count down to the Masters, only three weeks away and our Masters Draw is now up and running. Who are you tipping to win? Will Sergio Garcia defend his title? Or could Tiger surprise us, if you’re not sure then why not enter our Masters Sweepstake? Only £5 per ticket for your chance to win the first prize of over a £100 to spend in the pro shop, this would certainly knock a dent in the new driver or trolley you may be considering purchasing. We will also be running daily prizes of £10 each for the best and worst scores and the main prizes will go to fifth place.

Bag trade-in We have just had the new Motocaddy Dry Series bags delivered in some great colours and with the golfing season nearly upon us there’s no better time to treat yourself or someone else to a new golf bag, especially as we are offering you up to £20 OFF selected golf bags when you trade-in your old bag. |

New arrivals... Another new product this week is from FootJoy, their chillouts in a range of colours and with the Hockley logo in tonal colours on the left sleeve, very smart I must say. The performance mid-layers are versatile pieces that allow you to adapt to changing weather conditions. The four-way stretch shell helps keep your core warm while allowing free range of movement throughout the golf swing. The breathable fabric helps move moisture away from your body for added comfort.

On the Course... We had a reasonable entry in to this week's Saturday’s stableford. Division One winner was Jaco De Beurs with 39 points, closely followed by Andrew Chalke with 38 points, beating Chris Ford on a countback. Division Two winner was Robert Tobin (35 points) and runner-up was Steve Stanbridge with 34 points. A very low entry into Sunday's Stableford and this was processed as one division. Our winner was Richard Gillespie with 39 points and runner-up with 38 points was Andy Eley. The St David’s Day Stableford has been re-scheduled to Tuesday, 20 March and the final John Simpson Card to the weekend of Friday, 23 March to Sunday, 25 March.

We all look to freshen up our kit when the new season rolls around, but what about the one piece of equipment that houses everything? If you’ve been ignoring broken zips, worn dividers or tatty material, one of these bags could be the upgrade you need... |
If you’re an all-weather golfer who loves your trolley, this Titleist StaDry Lightweight cart bag could be your perfect piece of kit. It won’t just carry your clubs, clothing and accessories in its 14-way top and six spacious front facing pockets, but its waterproof material and seam-sealed zips will ensure your belongings are protected whatever the weather. |
