Seniors' Veterans Cup The winner of the Seniors' Veterans Cup played last Wednesday was Mike Chilcott with 34 points, however there is a twist to this event as you add a point on for every year you are over 70. Mike being 84 years young added 14 points to his score so romped away with he trophy on 48 points. Mike was closely followed by Mike Wells who is 86 and ended up with 44 points. Well done to both these gents, I’m sure I won't still be playing 18 holes at your age and without a buggy!

Junior Matches Congratulations to the Hockley Junior Team for a great success in the first of this season's Triangular matches with the other Winchester clubs. The best score of the day was our very own Harvey Pratt (11) who had best score of the day with 40 points, beating a certain Robbie Flower, who I believe came second in our recent Delhi cup and scored 39, a brilliant result!! Team scores finished - Hockley 172, South 158 and Royal 120, a great base to build on for the remainder of the games, a very well done to all of the team. The next event is the second round of the Greenjackets Competition away at Blackmoor, we will be represented by Beth Goater, Tom Chalk and Luke Evans, this will be a good one to win so best feet forward!

On the Course... On a difficult playing day, 87 members entered the Tutt Salver on Saturday and our overall winner with a nett 70 was Tim Brown, beating Jaco de Beurs on a countback. Sunday's Long Course Stableford was won by Ian Remington with 39 points.

Knockout Competitions A reminder that the QUARTER FINALS of the THE JACK EVERARD and the JUNIOR KNOCKOUT and SECOND ROUND of the THE HERIOT and THE TUTT BOWL are to be played by SUNDAY, 3 JUNE and there will be NO EXTENSIONS. If your match has been played, please ensure the result has been recorded on BOTH the DRAW SHEET and the PSI. If the winners are not posted by the round completion date the game could be assumed not to have been played and therefore both players could be subject to elimination. WINNERS - please check that the win has been posted.

Sattherwaite Salvers 20 pairs took part in the annual Satterthwaite Salvers on a very warm Bank Holiday Monday. The President very kindly stepped in to present the prizes to the winners; Steve and Bridget Moore who had 34 points. Runners-up were Susie Dryden and Andrew Cole with 33 points. It was great to see so many members outside the clubhouse afterwards enjoying the sunshine on what would have been a very quiet Bank Holiday Monday. Thanks to the pro team for running the event and to Bob Stilwell for presenting the prizes.

When it comes to purchasing golf equipment there are many factors that you need to take into consideration. One such factor is your shopping destination, so here are just a few reasons why we should be your number one stop for all things golf. |
There’s only one choice Unlike buying blind from the internet and hoping the specs you choose match up and nothing goes wrong, here in the shop you can test a vast range of products and see all the stats for yourself to help you make an informed purchase that you can have total confidence in. It's our custom fitting ethos that really separates us from buying elsewhere, which is something you really should take advantage of. | |

Two of the latest iron models that are proving very popular with our members are the Titleist 718 AP1 and 718 AP3. The former is Titleist’s longest and most forgiving iron, while the latter takes the distance of AP1 and combines it with the workability of AP2 for a very versatile package that we think you'll love. The great thing about Titleist's range is that we can easily mix and match across their iron models, allowing you to have easier-to-hit more forgiving long irons at the top of your bag, with more workable forged irons lower down. |
