Aces at Hockley
Congratulations to Alan Darlington who made a hole in one on the 12th hole using a seven iron whilst playing in the Texas Scramble on Saturday, I’m sure this helped his team who went onto win the event. Also, to John Fisher who had a hole in one on Sunday on the 12th hole using a nine iron.

Thank you from Jo Russell and HART (Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust)
"Thank you so much to all of the 100 people who came to my talk, The Secret Life of Jo Russell, Crossing Borders Illegally but Unashamedly to Help Refugees in Sudan and Burma. |
We were overwhelmed by the interest and generosity of all those who came, we raised over £10,000 including gift aid and as it is restricted funding 100% of it will go to the school at Loi Tai Leng Refugee Camp in Shan State Burma.
Fran has arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand and here is a photo of her with a truck load of provisions for the school about to set off on the long journey to the camp across the border on non-existent roads. She will set up the much-needed English Language Programme for them. I will keep you updated on how she gets on.

|
Thank you to everyone who came and to the catering staff who worked so hard on the night and to those wonderful ladies (June, Kate, Kay and Kathy) who supported me so efficiently on the night".

Sometimes it's nice to reminisce about the good times. When it comes to golf, the days of persimmon woods, small clubheads and hitting balls which were hard as a rock are long gone - but it can help to take a trip down memory lane to remind us of just how much technology has developed, particularly in the case of drivers. |
Time tunnel
Take PING for example; you might have been lucky enough to own its revolutionary G5 driver way back in 2006. The G5 was made from titanium, featured internal weighting distribution and who can forget the iconic half-moon alignment aid? It's definitely a collector's item, and is sure to be remembered with fondness. Fast-forward to the present day, and PING has released its most technologically advanced driver to date in the form of G400. The streamlined shape results in 15% extra clubhead speed and ball velocity - meaning you'll have added distance along with more stability. Not only that, but PING has developed four different G400 models so you're guaranteed to find a driver that's suited to your game. So, whilst it is nice to think about the drivers of yesteryear, it's probably time to get up to speed with the latest models such as the G400. Who knows? Maybe in another 10 years time, you'll be looking back on the G400 with as much fondness as the G5! |
