I know we don't like to talk about the winter arriving, but I have had some great lined jumpers and quilted soft shell jackets in from FootJoy and Waterproof jackets from adidas, all guaranteed to keep the 'Hockley wind and rain' out.
adidas Paclite Jacket
The Paclite Jacket from adidas combines two famous fabric technologies in the ClimaProof and GORE-TEX into one jacket which is all combined into a packable lightweight design ideal for storing in your golf bag. The GORE-TEX technology used with this Jacket makes it incredibly high performing as it is designed to make garments fully protective from wind and rain while being a highly breathable garment.
ClimaProof fabric is a highly weather resistant fabric which has been designed to protect you from the wind, rain and snow. Maximum waterproofing comes from every detail area that may let in moisture being covered right down to the sealed seams.
The quarter length zip makes the jacket easy to take on and off while out on the course, perfect for when you see the rain moving in. This zip is also protected by a Velcro storm flap as an added way to protect you from the elements.
You can prevent the elements from getting up your arms thanks to the Velcro adjustable cuffs and they can also be tightened/loosened for the most comfortable fit and come with a Full Gore-Tex lifetime waterproof guarantee.
Jack seems to be having a 'September Surge' He won the Hampshire PGA Meachers Masters event at Corhampton on Monday with a 4 under par total for 36 holes.
This follows his win at Tidworth and runner up at Alresford, his next quest is the HPGA Matchplay at Royal Winchester and to defend his Trainees Championship title at Waterlooville.
We wish him Good Luck in all the events.
Hole in one Madness
Tony Cullen had a costly bar bill from his Hole in One on the 2nd at Etretat last weekend, and we have had 3 'Holes in One' on the 5th here this week.
Veronica Bowen whose, husband informed me that it was a good shot with her hybrid which landed on the left side of the green. Fortunately the event going on in the dining area had just finished so not an expensive bar bill!
Sylvia Peach had her second Hole in One in 2 weeks, whilst playing in the Chilbolton and finally Colin Wyatt this week. Well done to you all, haven't had my drink yet though?
The inaugural Centenary Trophy event was staged at Hockley last week and 96 ladies enjoyed glorious sunshine, and the course, clubhouse and our new Pro Shop were much admired.
Basingstoke were the winners, Meon Valley second and Weybrook Park were third. Many thanks to Sylvia Peach and the ladies for running such a successful event, my sale rail went down well!!
The Chilbolton Cup winner was Caroline Hall with 42 points, runner up was Kay Walshe with 36 points. I believe Caroline had an 'exceptional scoring' handicap cut as well.
The Habin Cup winner was Jo Russell.
53 members took part in the Sonny Sharpe Trophy on Sunday, with a breeze blowing and quick greens the conditions were tricky, but the overall winner was Alex Olney with a net 72 in the morning and 34 points in the afternoon, Runner Up was Murray Carter and third place went to Roger Broadgate who was our morning leader with a nett 71.
Many thanks to the starters and scorers and especially to Howard Gleadow for co-ordinating and running the event.

Hockley Winter Foursomes
Last year saw the return of the popular Hockley Winter Foursomes. We are very lucky at Hockley in being a free draining course resulting in us not having a single course closure last winter despite it being one of the worst for many years. So in entering the Hockley Winter Foursomes we offer you the opportunity for some excellent winter competitive golf! This is an 'Open' event so please tell your friends.
Full details are on the club website or click here for an entry form and more details.
