Captain/Pro Challenge
Our second match and we won one! Our opponents this week were Luke and Dennis Hodgetts with Tony Taylor Still and Jon Bulloch. Both games stayed pretty tight all the way round which did make for a little bit of excitement, at one time we were three down to both pairs. We then went on an impressive par run from 12 to 14 to go all square with Tony and Jon and 1down to Luke and Dennis. Then came some pivotal moments, we halved the 15th in bogeys with Luke and Dennis, but went 1up on Tony and Jon, we then bogeyed 16 to go 2down to Luke and Dennis and halve with Tony and Jon. After two good pars by our opponents on 17 our match ended in a loss with Luke and Dennis and we were then all square with Tony and Jon. Going down 18, after two good drives Tony laid up to his partners favourite yardage whilst Nigel decided to go for it while he's young, well he hit one of the shots of his life to about 30ft and after Tony failed to hole his birdie putt we walked off 1Up. The holiday certainly helped our Captain.
Onto next week when we play Alan Blatchford and Jeff Ashford with Martin Tressider and Guy Paterson. |
Latest results
Saturday’s Stableford attracted a small entry due to the wet weather with Matt Chalke taking the honours in Division One with an excellent 42 points. Adrian Gosling picked up a win in Division Two after finishing with 37 points.
Sunday was the busier of days with Dave Gillespie scoring 39 points to grab top spot in Division One. Best score of the day went to Division Two winner Kola Adeosun who managed a superb 42 points. |
Stubby Stablefords are returning
There are no club competitions in December, however Stubby Stablefords are back! These will be non-qualifiers, allowing the greenkeepers to move the tees throughout the winter so the course may not be a measured length for a qualifying competition.
The entry fee of £4 will include a £1 sweep and all the fees will go back to prizes, so come and have some fun.

Winter Knockout
A reminder that the FIRST ROUND of the WINTER KNOCKOUT is to be played by WEDNESDAY, 5 DECEMBER and there will be NO EXTENSIONS. If your match has been played, please ensure the result has been recorded on BOTH the DRAW SHEET and the PSI. If the winners are not posted by the round completion date the game could be assumed not to have been played and therefore both teams could be subject to elimination. WINNERS: please check that the win has been posted.

In the past, golf clothing has had the reputation of being “for the golf course” with a call to the fashion police needed if you were to wear it anywhere else. Thankfully, times have changed, and we now have a vast selection of fashionable pieces in-store that you’ll be able to confidently wear both on and off the golf course.
|
We know some of you are still wearing your baggy golf jacket from years gone by, so here's our suggestion to replace it: FootJoy's DryJoys Select jacket. |
If you're shopping on the high street, you'll no doubt be looking for something to keep you dry. Well, this jacket is made from specially engineered fabrics for maximum waterproof protection. |
Its stylish design means it can be worn both on and off the course, with golf-specific features such as extra stretch on the shoulders making this the perfect solution to combat the elements this winter. |
