Captain's Charity Cheque Presentation
Naomi House & Jacksplace are hospices supporting children and young adults from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight and beyond. Their nursing, care, play and family support teams are experts in delivering the crucial emotional, spiritual and developmental aspects of care that families need.

They have huge emphasis on innovation, clinical excellence and holistic care which means they can care for children and young people with some of the most complex medical needs. When a child or young adult is diagnosed with a life limiting condition, Naomi House & Jacksplace becomes their home from home.

R&A Rules of Golf 2019 changes
Its less than three weeks until the biggest shake up of golf rules comes into effect and the new rules have been published by the R&A and the USGA ahead of coming into effect on 1 January 2019.

Captain/Pro
Those of you that play with or know Jason Cattle will know the significance of the ear defenders, our opponents this week were Alan Boucher and Jason Cattle (Tonka toys most experienced test drivers) with Nick Goater and Adrian Gosling, (Air fix test pilot).
After Alan and Jason birdied the first along with ourselves, we all thought, here we go, unfortunately, that standard of golf didn't stay for long and on a tricky afternoon after 10 holes we were the only group on the course.
Our game with Alan and Jason was a difficult one as they were 4up after 10 and although we got them back to two at one point, we just couldn't get close enough and they beat us 3-2.

However, our match against Nick and Adie stayed close most of the way round, playing the 15th we were all square, Nick and Adie then won 15 with a bogey, partially because our Captain said he couldn't see because his hair gel was running into his eyes (really!).
On 16 after I'd hit a 3 wood just over the green, the Captain played a lovely chip to 3ft, Nick then holed from 30ft for a half, so one down with two to go. We were both on the green in three on 17 and had a match play moment, I holed it from 40ft, Nick missed from 8ft, we were now all square, one to go. It came down to putting again on 18 and after Nick missed from 15ft we knocked ours in from 4ft to take it on the last.
Our next match is against Jo and Jonathan Russell with John Brickwood and Steve Pullen so will look forward to that in hopefully better weather.

Stubby Stableford
Saturday’s Division One winner was Martin Gill with 40 points, beating Dave Gillespie on a countback. Jeremy Legge took the honours in Division Two with 38 points.

Turkey Trot
On Sunday 48 members took part in the annual Turkey Trot on a windy, but sunny and dry morning. Winning the prize for the best score on the par 5's with 9 points was Dave Gillespie and the winner of the prize for the best score on the par 3's with 10 points was Riley Miller.
In the main competition John Fisher took third place with 38 points with the runner-up being Ian Leggat with 39 points.
Picking up first spot with an excellent 40 points was Dave Daish who is pictured collecting his Turkey and prize voucher from Captain Nigel. Congratulations Dave. |

Unfortunately, Dave was lost for words (which is a first!) so on his behalf I would like to thank Doug and the greenkeeping team for yet again providing us with course in fantastic condition, Tom, Olivia and the catering team for serving up a very spicy and tasty soup, Tracy, Chris and Scott for setting up and running the competition and to Gary for collating the scores. My thanks also go to Adrian again for assisting my team with the event, it would be great to see more ladies and juniors playing next year.

Winter Knockout
A reminder that the SECOND ROUND of the WINTER KNOCKOUT is to be played by WEDNESDAY, 2 JANUARY and there will be NO EXTENSIONS. If your match has been played, please ensure the result has been recorded on BOTH the DRAW SHEET and the PSI. If the winners are not posted by the round completion date the game could be assumed not to have been played and therefore both teams could be subject to elimination. WINNERS: please check that the win has been posted. |

We all want to enjoy playing golf, and a big part of this is lowering our handicap. Yes, there will be times when your game isn't up to scratch and you go up .1 a few times in a row, but there'll also be times when all of the puzzle pieces fit and your handicap tumbles. |
What does your graph look like? As the year comes to an end, it's important to take stock and examine where you can improve your game going into the new year. There might be several areas that you want/need to work on, or maybe just two or three finer details that will take your game to the next level. |
Whatever those areas are, we're here to help. We can identify the key reasons you're not shooting the scores you want, as well as devise a personalised winter coaching plan to help iron out those faults and get you paying your best golf.
