Mother nature to the rescue
Sent in before Christmas by our President Bob Stilwell, the photo is not particularly good but it shows the "cold full moon" at 4.30 pm on Saturday, 22 December. A fairly rare occurrence.
Many people should recognise where it was taken from and might feel impressed that some members were still playing to get a result, and that mother nature was there to help. Our match was halved.

Win a Fourball
Still up for grabs, and for only £5 a go, the Captain is now offering you the chance to win a fourball at Camberley Heath Golf Club where a Summer green fee is £85 each, it’s got to be worth a go?
It appears that some of you think £5 is too much to pay to play at Camberley? Then have a go at the New Forest GC fourball on offer for only £2 a go, this also includes lunch. Enter on the draw sheet in the bar.

Captain/Pro Challenge
Our Christmas period matches started badly with defeats in our first four games, against Steve Moore and Rob Wood with Paul Spooner and Stuart Humphries, Course Manager Doug and greenkeeper Neil Stephenson, but we are now on a nice run, winning our last four, against Grant Russell and Dave Bannell with Nigel Bray and Kevin Unsworth and the ladies pairing of Gill Quick and Monica Finlayson.
We had two big matches during this time against Jack and Scott which we played well in, but lost on 17, and the other BIG game, which is the only game we get supported from the membership, was against John Walton and his very nice partner Rob Stevens which you will be glad to hear we managed to win!
Our next opponents are old foes Dave Gregory and Mark Denton with Roy Andrews and Mike Gandy.

Christmas Draw
Thank you to all those that took part in the Christmas Draw, the winner of the first prize was Dan Bradbury, pictured here with the Titleist Cart bag. We had over 27 prizes most of which have now been collected.

Keeping you up to date
The ladies section ran five nine-hole stableford competitions during the Autumn months with those during the weekdays very well attended with up to 19 entrants for three of the competitions and have proved popular with the members. Joan Powell won two of the competitions, and Viv Stevens; Kay Free and Kay Walshe each won one. The next one will take place Thursday, 10 January.
The Ladies Christmas Lunch was superbly organised by Viv Stevens and Binnie Hopkins, the ladies enjoyed a welcome glass of fizz before sitting down to a delicious two/three course lunch. A Christmas Quiz helped with the festive atmosphere and the event was very well attended and enjoyed by all.
In the New Year there is a New Rules Morning on January, 15 at 10:00am. This is an informal meeting with coffee and biscuits where members can ask the four ‘experts’ questions on the different topics where there have been significant rule changes.
Please sign up in the changing room to give the organisers an idea of the likely numbers, the meeting is due to last for approx I hour and 30 minutes, so some ladies might like to play golf afterwards.

A new year always brings with it a sense of renewed motivation when it comes to improving your golf game – and 2019 isn’t any different. So, before you head to the course next, go into the garage and give your equipment the once-over to make sure all is in order for the year ahead. |
| What will you find inside yours?
|
|
Is it half-broken tees and scuffed golf balls galore in there? Perhaps your glove is so tattered you don’t know which holes are for your fingers? |
What about your grips: have they worn away so badly that you have a better chance at holding on to the shaft? Or maybe the leather upper on your shoes is beginning to crack? |
Whatever it is, come and speak to us – we can fix you up with the best the golf industry has to offer, from tees to shoes to any accessory you can think of. |
