Titleist Short Game Day
On Tuesday, 19 March we will be holding a Titleist Short Game Day between 10:00am – 2:00pm. Come and experience Titleist Vokey Design wedges and learn about the benefits of Progressive Centre of Gravity technology, while selecting proper lofts and grinds for your wedge set.
You will also be able to experience the entire range of high-performance Scotty Cameron putters. The three key factors in finding the correct putter for yourself are shape, length and toe flow. Testing putters with different head shapes, lengths and neck designs will help you find the ideal putter for your stroke and make more putts.
Call us to book your 45-minute slot or click here to get in touch.

New product - PING G410
The new PING G410 demo iron has landed ahead of the launch on Thursday, 7 February. With the PING G410 iron they have focused on improving the looks to create less of a game improvement feel to what is still a very forgiving iron. The main technical change is the introduction of tungsten weights in the hosel and toe of the club.
By adding weight on either side of the face it reduces the twisting of the face on off centre hits, resulting in an increase of 8% in MOI over the previous G400 iron. |
|
The heads are 3% shorter with 10% less offset in order to create a look that should attract more mid to low handicappers. If you are interested in testing these out give us a call on 01962 713165(2) or click here to book your fitting. |
Quiz Night
A great night was had at the Captain’s Annual Quiz Night where over 100 members and guests filled the clubhouse and raised a magnificent £1040 for the Captain’s charities. A close fought affair was won by ‘Universally Challenged’ (Steve and Carol Pullen, Ken and Judy Shaw and John and Margaret Simpson) by one point over Rob Monkhouse’s team, The C. C.s. Both teams kindly made generous charity donations from their winnings.
|
Thanks to everyone who attended and made the evening such a success and a special mention to the bar and catering team and, of course, Nick Goater, Damian Cain (Ant & Dec) and Sean Dolphin (Dermot O’Leary) for the tremendous amount of time and effort not only on the night but also in putting the whole event on.
Thank you also to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to Fullers for the charity barrel of London Pride. We’ll soon be running a Race Night, details to follow.

Captain/Pro Challenge
On a glorious January afternoon Captain Newman and I played Steve King and Dave Dumper with Mike Cherrett and Trevor Atyeo, on what was the best weather I think we've played in. However, over the first six holes that was the best thing we had going for us, surprisingly our start of four bogeys, a double bogey and a hole we just picked up on, didn't put fear into our opponents and we were down in both matches playing seven.
As with all weeks there are turning points and seven was ours, we were greenside in two with Mike and Trevor 40yards short for nett one, we looked like going four down, but they took four to get down and we made four after a great chip from Nigel to win it. Walking off nine we were suddenly all square, in the other match against Steve and Dave we were 1up after nine, after paring seven, eight and nine, we were starting to get back into the match.
We then had a bit off a run paring holes 10 - 15 to win our match with Steve and Dave, but Mike and Trevor were hanging on and were 1dn with two to go. They let us off by three putting 17 for a half and we made a solid par on 18 to close out the match. Consequently another two wins, we have a weekend off whilst the Captain celebrates a ‘significant’ birthday, we then go onto play Martin Gill and Nigel Noke with Bill Harrison and Steve Hill-Cousins.

Keeping you up to date
There were only five entries into the stableford last week and the winner was June Glasspell with 30 points.
Last Tuesday morning, an excellent turnout of ladies enjoyed a most entertaining and informative talk on the recent key changes in the rules. The noise, and even occasional laughter, were testimony to the keen interest and enthusiasm of those who came along and to the skill and expertise of the four presenters who succeeded in making those seemingly complicated Rules of Golf more straightforward and user friendly than many of us think. Our thanks to Gill Quick, Chris Quinn, Kay Walshe and Fiona Williams for a very worthwhile morning and for their time and efforts on our behalf.
With another 9-hole Stableford coming up this Thursday, a reminder to the Bronze section that the Par tree is now up (literally) and running and they should record any par they achieve on an eclectic card. Don't forget to name and date it and place it in the Birdie box in the Ladies Changing Room.

Winter Knockout
A reminder that the THIRD ROUND of the WINTER KNOCKOUT is to be played by WEDNESDAY, 30 JANUARY and there will be NO EXTENSIONS.
If your match has been played, please ensure the result has been recorded on BOTH the DRAW SHEET and THE PSI. If the winners are not posted by the round completion date the game could be assumed not to have been played and therefore both teams could be subject to elimination.
WINNERS: Please check that the result has been posted.

Winter League
All of the matches in the league stage of the Winter League are to be played by Thursday, 31 January. If a competitor fails to complete all of their match commitments, then all of their previous results will be void.
Please ensure all of your matches are played. If they are not, then this would result in competitors who have won their matches having their points deducted.

The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a new set of irons, only to struggle massively when they take to the course with their friends a few days later. Sound familiar? Well, with lots of new products about to land in-store for 2019, here is an iron model that we recommend having a custom fitting for... |
The new G410 iron from PING is a brilliant game improvement option that is engineered to offer impressive distance. When you look down at address, you'll notice its clean and refined shape, which will help inspire confidence with every club. But what we love the most is its updated COR-EYE technology, which delivers a higher ball flight and increased ball speeds - essentially more distance!
Hopefully, you have an idea of which iron you'd like to put in your bag, but it's not until you come and visit us for an enjoyable custom fitting that you'll know which iron and shaft combination performs best for you. We're here to help you play better golf. |
