Whilst out on his first ski trip to France our immediate Past Captain Damian ‘Bumped’ into our eldest son Ben on the slopes.
What are the chances of that?

New innovations at Hockley GC |
Odyssey Stroke Lab putters Innovative shaft for more stroke consistency
Most putting strokes are inconsistent, yet most putting technologies focus on improving alignment or the quality of roll. That’s all good, but there’s more help needed and that's where Stroke Lab is different.
|
Stroke Lab shaft is a full 40 grams lighter than a traditional steel putter shaft, made possible by an innovative new multi-material shaft design that combines graphite with steel to weigh just 75g.
This weight changes will allow you to feel the putter head more and I know from fittings and coaching that when a player can feel the head more, they become more acute, repeat their swing with a smoother tempo. We are very excited about this product and it will make a big difference to golfers.
|
|
Team this with the new Callaway ERC Soft Triple Track golf balls and you wont miss. This multi-material cover creates an exceptional combination of faster ball speeds for longer distance, incredibly soft feel and noticeably higher spin for excellent control around the green.
All marked with ‘Triple Track Alignment Technology’, Triple Track uses ‘Vernier Visual Acuity’ to improve alignment compared to a regular side stamp alignment aid. Ultimately it will help you sink more putts.

Captain/Pro Challenge
The Captain and I suffered our first defeat for a little while this week against young Brandon and his grandad Kim Perritt, to be fair we were hammered by these two and Brandon who had a lesson with me on Saturday was the star of the show. Our other opponents were familiar foes of Alan Carpenter and Pat Lawson. We did start nicely being level par after six holes and were 2up against both pairs, we turned 2up on Alan and Pat, but level with Brandon and Kim.
We then had a bad few holes early on the back nine and after Brandon and Kim won 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16 our game was over. Our game with Pat and Alan stayed a little bit closer, but after most of us missed a few putts and a few shots weren't quite as good as they could have been, we closed out our match with them on 16 with a rock-solid bogey.
As I said at the start, young Brandon hit the ball lovely all the way round and I’m sure he won't be off his current handicap for very long, well done Brandon keep up the good work. Next week we have our rescheduled match with Nigel Noke, Martin Gill, Bill Harrison and Steve Hill Cousins, please note this will be at 12.30pm, so onward again.

Knighton Heath Trophy
A list is now up inviting seniors to consider taking part in this competition, this trophy is a knockout competition played against other Golf Clubs across the South, ranging from Lyme Regis in the West to Hayling in the East. It’s a team event involving 10 individual matches, the lowest handicap player in each team starts and players follow in ascending handicap order, so that each game is often against a player of a similar handicap. There is a handicap maximum of 18, but a “good” 19 or 20 can still play, but would be restricted to play off 18. There is a preliminary round (which may not involve our club) that has to be played by Saturday, 6 April. The draw will be known in early March, so I would like a good number to be able to choose from, as the handicap restriction reduces the number of seniors who are eligible.
