Thank you Scott
It is with regret that I have to announce that my newly qualified assistant Scott will be leaving us at the end of March. Scott is undecided as to what career path he wants to take at the moment so he will be doing some caddying work at Queenwood Golf Club. We wish him all the best for the future.

Look who we found?
Preferring the warm sunshine Murray and Harry Ellis met up with Carole and Tony Cullen in Fancourt, George, South Africa whilst Harry was playing in the Sunshine Tour Pro-Am.

Another meet up in Franschhoek, South Africa
Does anyone know the guy on the left? He is called Ian Milne (Lesley’s husband), he is one of those lovely Hockley members who pays a full sub but only plays six times a year. Come in from the cold Ian you are very welcome.
It would appear South Africa is popular with Hockley members at the moment.

Have you entered?
The winner of this week’s Bonus Ball was Steve Fennell, the winning ball was 12 (again) and there is another one running, £1 per ball in the clubhouse.
There will also soon be details of a Sealed Bid Auction for the West Hill GC voucher. The poster will be on the noticeboard by the weekend.

The 'Fury' has landed
The FootJoy Fury shoes have been designed for maximum comfort, with surround stability and are lightweight to wear. They are a standard fit across the forefoot and instep, with a slightly narrow heel. The thicker insole provides increased underfoot cushioning for enhanced comfort. Pulsar Cleats by Softspikes help to achieve a low profile, while the thinner spec receptacles ensure low-profile performance through the Fast Twist II cleat system. FootJoy warrants this shoe will be waterproof in normal use for one year.
|
Come and try a pair of the most comfortable pair of shoes from FootJoy and we will give you a FREE ‘Fury’ ball marker. |

Captain/Pro Challenge
We would have been great TV this week against Nigel Noke and Martin Gill with Steve Hill-Cousins and Bill Harrison, the golf wasn't great, but you literally didn't know what was going to happen. The 7th was a good example, Nigel and Martin were on the green for six nett five and the Captain and I were on for four, after advising the Captain our putt was quick which he obviously took into account, promptly hitting it 10ft past, we were only 15ft away to start with. Nigel Noke then hit his putt a similar distance away and then picked his ball up conceding the hole before his partner had a chance to stop him. Obviously, the way I putt, he would have had a chance for a half, we then won the next two holes to be 3up at the turn on this pair.
Our other game was pretty tight all the way round and we were 1down after nine, however the run that happened after that went like this. We won 10, they won 11, we won 12, halved 13, we won 14, then they won 15 before our par par burst on 16 and 17 ended a great game in our favour. Unfortunately for Nigel and Martin our relentless bogeys were too strong for them and we shook hands on the 14th.
On a personal note I think it's worth commenting on the condition of the course, many congratulations to Doug and his team, I think in my time here it's the best I've ever seen it at this time of year.

Ladies' Fun Morning
Due to early morning fog, there was a delayed start to the February Ladies' Fun Morning last week. 14 ladies signed up to play in a Texas or Florida Scramble, depending upon whether they were to play in a three or a four.
The clear winners wiping the floor with a nett 64.1 were Olivia Colvin, Wendy Greenhalgh, Fiona Williams and Chris Quinn but everyone enjoyed the game and it was a glorious spring-like day once the fog cleared. Just one more opportunity to take part in a Fun Morning this year so don't miss the last one on Tuesday, 12 March.

We all love new golf equipment – be it balls, clubs or shoes; there’s nothing like stepping out onto the course knowing that everything in your bag is in pristine condition. Except, for the majority of golfers, there’s always one thing which is often forgotten about... |
| How old are your grips? |
| Losing control during your swing? |
|
If you pulled a club out of your bag now, what state would your grips be in? You’ll probably notice that they’re at the very least losing some of the tackiness they once had or, in the worst cases, worn away so badly that they’re completely unrecognizable - a clear sign they need to be replaced. The benefits to getting your clubs regripped are huge, and they can even improve your performance. Take the ALIGN grips from Golf Pride; these have a raised edge on the back (red part of grip seen here) to perfect your hand placement every time. |
|
As you can see, we're currently running a promotion where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE; all you need to do is pop in-store and decide which of these grips you want to try out. |
