Etretat Over the last weekend, Hockley hosted the 34th Henderson Putter match against the twin club Etretat from Normandy.
60 members took part in a 4BBB match with hosts Hockley marginally winning 11-4! At the formal post-match dinner Captain Nigel Newman made a wonderful victory speech in French which was responded to hilariously by Etretat Life Twinning Captain Paul Hopital.
The French (and of course the English) delighted in the 80-person meal provided by chef Tom Bull with Dave and the service from Vicky and her bar team. They even appreciated the Spanish wine we served up. Sunday was completed by a Florida Scramble which Captain Nigel and his team won by 0.1 shots.
All in all a very successful weekend of international golf and the 'B' word was never heard once. We look forward to the return in September.

It doesn’t matter whether you struggle to break 100 or are targeting rounds in the 70s, a set of custom fitted irons will go a long way in helping you achieve your goals. For those of you who think you're not good enough or haven't been fitted before, here's a rough guide to how a custom fit session works. |
| The rough guide to a custom fitting |
|
• Step 1 – Let’s talk. We use this time to familiarise ourselves with your golf game, your goals and about your current set of clubs. • Step 2 - You take to the floor. Yes, it's that simple - you hit some golf balls with your own irons so we have a baseline for comparison. • Step 3 - Hit the latest and greatest. Once you're nicely warmed up and raring to go, we'll give you some irons to try that we think will strengthen your weaknesses and improve your strengths. Take Callaway's Big Bertha irons (2019) for example; this super game-improvement iron is their easiest to launch distance iron that is packed full of forgiveness. • Step 4 - Time to dial in. When we've found an iron model that is outperforming the rest, we'll try out different shafts and lies until we get the perfect make-up for your game. • Step 5 - Your new irons. Once you've got your hands on your new set, we'll keep in touch to make sure you are 100% happy with your new purchase. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s take your iron game to the next level in 2019 with a custom fitting and let’s give Callaway’s Big Bertha irons a go to see if they are right for you. . |
