Staff news

Challenge accepted

Our Course Manager Doug with two of his team Ryan and Tim are doing the 72 Hole Golf Challenge on Monday, 24 June and are raising money for Macmillan. They are playing three local courses starting at 5.30am and finishing at Hockley.

Ryan’s brother Matt will also be taking on the challenge with them. Your support would be very much appreciated.

An offer not to miss

Ladies news

Medal

A small entry into the Medal on Thursday and the winner was Wendy Evans with a nett 75.

Ladies Championship

The Ladies Club Championship was successfully held on Sunday, 9 June. The 27 entrants which comprised of 14 entries for the 36-hole competition and 13 for the Fuchsia 18-hole competition, all enjoyed a warm and sunny day with excellent playing conditions.

The Championship Cup was won by Bethany Goater with a gross score for 36 holes of 165. Kay Walshe won the Runner Up Cup with a gross score of 168 and was also the winner of the Jubilee Cup for the 36-hole handicap score of 146.

Monica Finlayson was the runner up in the Jubilee Cup with a nett score over 36 holes of 155. Janet Cuschieri was third in the 36-hole Scratch competition and Julie Moss was fourth overall in both the 36-hole Scratch and Handicap competitions.

The 18-hole Fuchsia Bowl was won by Helen Bailey (75) and the runner up was Nicky Stilwell with 76. The trophies and prizes were presented by Bob Stilwell, and the ladies would like to thank both Bob Stilwell and Steve Moore more for their starter duties. Also, to the Pro Team for processing the scores.

Match news

Mixed Match

A very sociable mixed match was played against Alresford last Wednesday afternoon. Despite a few spits of rain before the start, we were lucky with the weather with the rain holding off and we even had some sun. Alresford enjoyed the course and there were some very tight matches. The day was finished with everyone enjoying a social drink and a lovely two-course meal.

The result went Hockley’s way with a 3 ½ to 2 ½ win.

Competition news

Birch Trophy

68 members braved the weather on Saturday and took part in the Birch Trophy and our winner this year is new member Lewis Fail with a nett 68, closely followed by Alan Smith with a nett 69.

- Saturday, 22 June - Club Championship is now open for entry on the psi, please note the field is limited to 66 and the closing date is Friday, 14 June

- Friday, 28 June - Hockley Pro-Am - We would love to see more members playing in this event and supporting our Club and Captain. Why not invite some of your friends to play and make up a team of 3?
Your chance to play with a Hampshire Professional and your entry fee includes coffee on arrival, a two-course meal and prizes. Entry forms are available on the website or in the foyer.
