Welcome to another exciting edition of the weekly newsletter bringing you up to date with all the latest news and offers from Hockley Golf Club. It’s been a busy week here at Hockley and I hope you've all had a good week on and off the golf course. Please take extra care this week with temperatures set to be in the high 30’s. Use your umbrellas as a sunshade, wear a hat, use sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids. Water regulates your body temperature and lubricates your joints. If you're not hydrated, your body can't perform at its highest level - you may feel tired, have muscle cramps, dizziness, or other serious symptoms. The shop is fully stocked with COLD drinks. Shane Lowry Open 2019 winner, what a classy performance all week and to do it at home in front of all the home support must have been incredible. He was simply outstanding with an unshakable performance. I suspect a few ‘Guinness’s’ were consumed on Sunday night!
Enjoy this week's read. |

The 818 H1 is for high launch, easy distance, and tremendous forgiveness - for golfers with a sweeping delivery to the ball and prefer the look of a fairway metal.
The 818 H2 is for player preferred launch, precise distance, and iron-like control - for golfers with a steeper delivery to the ball and prefer the look of an iron.

Ladies Invitation Day Forty ladies, of whom fourteen were Hockley members, played a Bowmaker Stableford at Hockley on Tuesday, 16 July. The course was set up perfectly, the weather was kind, refreshments were enjoyed at the 11th and the competition was fun and friendly.
Helen Vidal Allen’s team of Spanish Ladies won with 103 points with Bev Huke’s team second with 101. Sue Bucket from Royal Winchester was nearest the pin on the 5th while Sue Gardiner collected the prize for the 12th. Chris Quinn’s team won the prize for the least putts while Kay Walshe’s team won the one for going in the most bunkers!
The raffle, organised by Lesley Milne and Pam Christmas, raised £165 for club charities and at the end of the morning, a delicious lunch was provided by Tom and his team. Thanks to Tracy for supplying the prizes and to our dapper starter, Bob Stilwell.

Rated: Garmin GPS watches |
How many times have you stood on a tee-box and wondered what yardage it is to a specific point down the fairway, such as a tree or bunker? Likewise, how helpful would it be to know how far you have between the back of the green and the pin? This is where a GPS device comes in, and here are our top three picks in 2019. |
| Garmin Approach S10
| All the key distance information you need without the frills in this simple and easy-to-use watch.
Our verdict – Superb budget option boasting incredible practicality and style
|
| Garmin Approach S40
| 1.2 inch colour touchscreen that allows you to easily move the pin for more accurate yardages.
Our verdict – Our top pick for a combination of on-course info and smartwatch functionality |
| Garmin Approach S60
| The very best GPS golf watch with a bird's-eye view of the entire hole and a large numbers setting.
Our verdict – A premium option that offers so much tech it is actually something of a bargain |
