Captain’s Finale
As my Captain’s Year is fast coming to a close, my final social event will be on Friday, 27 September in the clubhouse with a 7.00pm for 7.30pm start. As always, all profits will go to the Captain’s Charities. Phil Holt, professional after-dinner speaker, will be delivering a talk on The History of Aviation and the Red Arrows. There will also be the long-awaited Captain’s Auction which will include a signed Saints shirt, a huge selection of fourball vouchers and the auction of the bar and catering staff as caddies and our chef Tom for your dinner party.
There will also be a raffle on the night and the £22.00 ticket will include wine on the tables and a tapas-style cuisine. The poster and sign-up sheet is now available on the noticeboard, together with full details of the evening. If you would like to bid as part of the auction but can’t make the evening event, sealed bids will be accepted.
I look forward to seeing you during the evening.

Centenary Triangular
The annual Centenary Triangular took place on Wednesday with Hockley hosting. Each team consisted of eight men, four ladies and the format was a full handicap stableford with all team member’s scores counting. |
The holders, Nevill were unable to retain the trophy (which they had forgotten to bring with them) finishing in third place with 370 points. Runners up were Shirley Park with 379 and Hockley were, for the second time in a week, runaway winners of a triangular with 411 points.
Notable Hockley scores were returned by Sean Dolphin (40), Monica Finlayson (38) and Jonathan Russell (37) ably supported by the rest of their team. Club Captain Nigel found a” suitable substitute “trophy” for the presentation, seen in the photo with the opposing captains.
Next year’s event will be hosted by Shirley Park.

Revealed: Our favourite trolleys of 2019 |
Push trolley or electric trolley? Do you have a preference or have you not really thought about it that much? We have both covered as we reveal the best trolleys money can buy in 2019, and both of these winners are available through your very own pro shop. |
| Push to pass - Motocaddy Z1 Happy to go around under your own power? Then you can’t go wrong with Motocaddy’s Z1 push trolley. The Z1 is our top pick when it comes to value and practicality from a push trolley, not just because its lightweight nature is a joy to handle around the course, but also because the easy-to-fold two-step system makes it quick and easy to transport.
|
| Go electric - Motocaddy S1 Want to take a load off and let the trolley do the bulk of the work? Then there are none better than Motocaddy’s electric S1. A whisper-quiet 200W motor provides ample power throughout your round, allowing you to stay fresh for the back nine. Its stunning high-resolution LCD display has been updated for 2019 and keeps you ‘up to speed’ with battery life and speed settings.
