Thank you, Hockley!
On behalf of HART (Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust), I would like to thank everyone at Hockley for their extremely generous support and donations to our small but effective Human Rights charity. The £20k raised by Hockley members at our two HART Fund Raising talks has been used to build a dam at Loi Tai Leng refugee camp. This provides running water, hydroelectric power and irrigation for crops for food. Thanks to you the 400 orphans at Loi Tai Leng school who have lost their families, their homes, all their possessions, now have better food supplies, electricity to power their education and a clean source of running water. This has made a huge difference. Thank you.

A further £3295.25 was raised as a result of our past Captain Nigel Newman’s well organised and enthusiastic fundraising. This will provide a much-needed nursery building for the under 5’s in the Refugee Camp in Piang Laung. At the moment they hold the nursery in makeshift sheds, so are extremely grateful for this donation. Thank you so much to Nigel, to Kate Colwill and the ladies’ section who chose HART as their charity, to Kay Walshe, Kate Colwill, Judie Lewis and June Glasspell who helped on the fundraising evenings and to all the staff who offered their services in the auction.
Last but not least, thank you to all of you who donated so generously. Every penny you donated has gone to the refugee camps and has made a magnificent difference to people who have nothing. Thank you. Jo Russell.

Charity news
I’ve completed the presentations of the cheques to the three charities which we raised funds for last year. Thank you again to everyone who contributed so generously and special thanks to those who gave their time and skills to raise our fantastic total of £8606.28. Nigel Newman.

Captain/Pro Challenge What a great weekend of weather we had and our Captain/Pro Challenge matched it, well most of the round. We were against past captains' Nigel Newman and Damian Cain with Luke Hodgetts and my son Jack, so pretty stiff opposition. Both games stayed close all the way round and at the turn, we were two down to Jack and Luke and one down to Nigel and Damian. A few pars changed hands before we birdied thirteen and fifteen to get back to all square with Jack and Luke one-up against Nigel and Damian. Unfortunately, these matches came so soon after Tracy and I returned from our holiday and I did hit a couple of shockers on sixteen and seventeen, which led to two losses. The loss on seventeen to Nigel and Damian was to a nett eagle, our game with Jack and Luke was over, but as they told us afterwards they had seventeen pars and one birdie, pretty good. However, in the other big game, we were one-down playing the last, but after Nigel hit a fantastic chip to 3ft to save par our Captain holed from 20ft ish for birdie (the distance varies as to who you ask), we were back down the first where we managed to hit it closer in three than our opponents. Our first win but more importantly a lovely afternoon.
