A milestone to remember... Congratulations to our early morning golfers, John and Jane Smith who celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary last week, 60 years together. They were very happy to receive a letter from the Queen - well done you two.

Auction One of the items in Captain Nigel’s auction at the end of his year of captaincy was a dinner party for four at one’s own home from our chef Tom Bull. We made a bid and were lucky to have secured the event. Tom very quickly made it a party for eight and catering manager Olivia offered to help Tom. The dinner took place last Saturday and what a superb evening it was. Tom prepared a five-course menu after some discussion, he acquired the ingredients (at our cost), we provided the drinks, he took over our kitchen and provided excellent quality food to our Hockley friends. Absolutely fabulous.

It was a superb idea and gesture from Tom in aid of Nigel’s charity and we cannot thank him and Olivia enough. We have dined in some fine restaurants in our life, the food Tom tabled for us was equal to the best. If a similar auction takes place next year dig deep, it is worth it.
Merry Christmas to all, Carole and Tony Cullen

A couple of tough competitors... We came up against two strong pairs this weekend in Mike Fortune and Ian Harvey with Jason Cattle and Dave Daish. On a lovely afternoon with the course looking remarkably good considering the weather we’ve had, after a steady start, Sean and I fell behind after four holes and never really got back into it. We were two-down to Jason and Dave and three down to Mike and Ian after nine. Sean hit a fantastic rescue wood into the tenth which shows what a bad tee shot I hit. This led to us picking up a hole on Jason and Dave and a half to the other two, we halved eleven in birdies, but then I missed from four-foot on twelve so back to four-down and two-down. Although we made birdie on fourteen, parred fifteen, we bogeyed sixteen and an ‘Out of Bounds’ shot on seventeen brought both games to an end, losing both three and two.
Our next opponents are General manager Paul with new partner Les Bishop and Rob Stevens and John Walton.
