We hope you enjoyed last weekend's U.S. Open. As always, this week's email is packed full of useful topics to help you get the most from your game. For example, have a read of our article on hybrids as we explore just how useful they can be. If you see anything that you'd like to try or have any questions, please reply to this email and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Enjoy the read.

Some gentle reminders Please use the litter bins provided out on the course as the team seem to be picking up more and more litter each morning. Please check into the shop BEFORE going to the tee. Please check into the shop BEFORE using the Range and RETURN your basket afterwards. Do not start hitting your own balls on the range until you have checked into the pro shop, there are only two designated areas for this. Please CANCEL your tee time if you are NOT playing. Please NO GUESTS on SATURDAY and only AFTER 12 Sunday to Friday. Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Tuesday, we must now insist that face coverings are worn by all members and visitors when in the shop and indoor areas of the clubhouse. Coverings may only be removed when seated in bar and restaurant areas. We MUST all do our bit to tackle the virus and this may prevent a Lockdown again.

How do you fancy your very own parking space for a year? Well for only a £1 it’s well worth a go, all you need to do is guess the combined drives of all four incoming captains, Kay Washe, Monica Finlayson, Steve Hill-Cousins and Riley Miller. The entry sheet is on the bar. The draw will take place on Saturday, 17 October, and all proceeds are going to the new captain’s charity MacMillan Cancer Support.

Report from David... Jack Everard Competition: Congratulations go to Kim Perrett and Danny Francis as this year’s champions. Commiserations go to Paul Blackburn and Alan Wilson as losing finalists, better luck next year. Interestingly, Danny was only persuaded to enter the knockout competition, on the last possible day you could enter. So next year, as it is a ‘drawn for partners competition’, I suggest you register early in the hope you draw Danny as your partner.
Winchester Seniors Triangular: We have now played two legs of the annual triangular and came second on both occasions. However, as we approach the final leg at Hockley on Friday, 2 October, we are leading with 533 points, followed by Royal Winchester with 530 points and South Winchester with only 504 points. We have an excellent opportunity to win this year’s competition and I will be selecting the team to win. Senior's Annual Meeting: All Hockley Seniors will have received an email from me, detailing the process to replace this year’s Annual Meeting. Please read my email and put forward your comments, suggestions and proposals. Above all, I beseech you to nominate and have seconded, candidates for Vice-Captain as it is vital to the ongoing success of Hockley Seniors. David Morgan Seniors’ Captain
