Please help us look after our course Following on from the email sent out by the club earlier this week regarding the number of unrepaired divots and pitchmarks, I thought I would include a short tutorial for those of you that are unsure of the correct method. We all pay good money to be a member of our club and I am sure we all want to see our golf course in the best possible condition at all times. A pitchfork can be purchased for just 25 pence from the Pro Shop, every member should have one! |
HOW TO REPAIR A PITCHMARK A pitchmark only takes a few seconds to fix correctly however, a pitchmark repaired incorrectly takes over three weeks to heal. Please study the diagrams on how to correctly repair pitchmarks. The correct repair will help protect the grass root system and benefit all members and visitors to the course. |
| CORRECT METHOD | 1. Insert the pitchmark repairer tool just outside of the back of the pitchmark. 2. Lever the turf towards the centre of the pitchmark. 3. Repeat this motion from all sides of the pitchmark. 4. Gently tap the repaired area with your putter. This action stretches undamaged turf over the pitchmark, providing instant recovery. |
| INCORRECT METHOD | 1. DO NOT pry up the centre of the depression with the pitchmark repairer as it exposes the soil and will delay the healing process
2. DO NOT insert the pitchmark repairer and twist it. This only breaks more turf loose. |
