Welcome to another edition of the weekly newsletter bringing you up to date with all the latest news and offers from Hockley Golf Club. I hope you've all had a good week on and off the golf course and it’s Masters week, which usually means the start of the golfing season! A little cold for now, but hopefully a little Augusta sunshine might make its way over and get you all back out playing without the woolly hats! We also have boxes of new products landing in-store on a weekly basis, so please do get in touch if there's something you're after. We'll be happy to help! Enjoy this week's read.

Capt/Pro After a long layoff, we are finally back! Our opponents this week were old foes in Damian Cain and Mat Richards with Nigel Newman and Pete Crowe.
With the boys and myself obviously a little nervous playing with Kay after her four-shot victory in the midweek medal, the initial holes reflected this with pars let alone birdies very hard to come by, however Damian and Mat were obviously more nervous than the rest of us as we were five up after six holes, in our other match we halved all six. Now, I have been lucky enough to have played golf for 47 years and I thought I’d seen every shot possible, but Pete Crowe hit a shot I don’t think I can do justice to in writing. Nigel didn’t quite make the fairway on seven, so Pete was on an upslope in the rough, he adjusted his stance to go with the slope and hit it as hard as he could, but unbeknown to him there was a root just in front of the ball and it went up so high we think it took ten seconds to come back to earth and it only travelled ten yards! Getting back to the matches Damian and Mat didn’t play as well as I’ve seen them before and our game with them finished on 15, but Nigel and Pete took us all the way and our solid 6 on 18 managed to secure a one-up victory. Tough day for all of us, but easy and enjoyable company to be around. Next week the big one, defending champions Jack Stubbington and Luke Hodgetts with Jack Bateman and TJ Donaldson, so big-hitting pairs, but we should get loads of shots, hope we have enough? |
